In general, people believe that there is a tight connection between acne and diet. These people think that acne can be caused by certain foods. Actually, this isn’t all true. For example, chips have a high amount of iodized salt, which can help acne develop more.
Other foods that make acne even worse are processed foods, yeasty foods, spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, white rice, smoked fish, meat or cheeses, burnt food or foods that have been cooked on char, additives and preservatives. Acne could be worsened also by grains and especially whole grains. More than that, high glycemic foods such as potatoes can make acne worse. Acne is not the only facial problem that is influenced by high glycemic foods. You should stick with low glycemic foods, as they don’t provoke a rapid elevation of the insulin levels.
