Anti Wrinkle Treatment – Why Look Older?

The process of aging is really the elasticity and the structure of the skin changing over time. Often, it starts well before you even see the dreaded wrinkles- tell tale signs of getting older. The damage we incur in our teenage and college age years has great impact on our skin later in life.
Your skin is a giant protective organ. The two key factors that effect your skin’s aging are UV exposure and the natural physiological condition of getting older. Now, no matter what you do, you cant stop time. We will all wrinkle eventually. The key is to age smartly. Anti wrinkle treatments can help quite a bit, but you need to be proactive about UV exposure as well.

There are three types of ultraviolet rays. They are organized by wavelength and are classified as being UVA, UVB, or UVC. UVA has the longest length and the shortest is UVC.
The UVA rays are really pretty hazard-less. This is the same wave that passes through ordinary glass. This short wave is what is normally used in tanning salons. However as with anything, over exposure can still damage cells. After all, nearly 50% of skin cancer cases can be linked to tanning machines. This is because, although it doesn’t actually cause sun burn, it penetrates deep into the skin and can be a catalyst for chemical reactions in the body. It affects the hydroxyl and oxygen radicals and will damage the collagen fibers of your skin. These collagen fibers are the under structure of the skin and help to prevent sagging.
Ok, I am sure you are beginning to just understand clicks and whistles now so lets move on to UVB. UVB will suck vitamin A out of your skin faster than you can believe. With regular exposure, DNA damage to the skin occurs, modifying the cells. This mutation is commonly what you find in skin cancer. And although UVB is not as quick to damage collagen as UVA- it still can take its toll.
UVC doesn’t tend to penetrate very deep. It will burn the surface of the skin, but the outermost epidermis tends to protect you from it.
So, now that you know the enemy- what can you do to protect yourself?
The key is to avoid over exposure to the sun. It is critical that you always use sunscreen. And don’t think that if it is cloudy you can make an exception. There are still strong UV rays penetrating the cloud cover. So wear your sunblock!
I would also suggest finding a good anti wrinkle treatment. Many of these have SPF to protect the skin, they replenish depleted vitamins, and they help to boost collagen production.
