How to Handle Teen Acne Problems
There is a basic difference between Teen acne and acne outbreaks in adults. Seniors suffering from acne know how acne develops and how to get rid of acne. But most teens do not know the reasons of acne and they start to take it very seriously.
It’s true that acne should not be ignored; severe acne outbreaks can leave ugly marks on skin for long. But acne is not a disease for which you should confine yourself inside your room and stop mingling with your friends and acquaintances! Unfortunately most teens do this.
Teenage is a crucial span of life – along with physical changes; boys and girls undergo psychological transition as well. Most of the teens are very much self-conscious; and as soon as they notice the acne blemishes on skin, they start to feel low and often refuse to socialize. There are examples when teens stopped going school because they had acne!
Parents should play an active role in such cases. Acne is a common problem among teens; if your teen is suffering from acne, talk to them, let them know the causes of acne so that they do not feel bad about it. Take them to a dermatologist to know the right skin care for acne.
Here are some tips that would help you guide your children to get rid of acne:
1] First, take a casual class – let them know why acne appears and how to treat acne problems. Tell them how skin type and hormonal changes influence the extent of acne outbreak. Let them understand that it’s not in our hand to stop the problem.
2] The second important thing is letting them know how to cure acne and how to minimize acne formation. There are many over-the-counter medicines that help to cure acne blemishes. However, it is not right to try a medicine without knowing its composition. Benzyl Peroxide is a common ingredient in acne medicines; however, one should always see a skin doctor before using an OTC medicine.
Make sure your teens do not do any mistake in choosing their acne skin care remedy – negligence may take a huge toll later on.
3] See if they are washing their face at least twice in a day. When you wash your face with plain water you remove a substantial amount of dead skin cells and oil which are responsible for acne formation.
4] Finally, provide them support in all possible ways. Mental support is very essential – your teens should not take the problem very seriously, and, at the same time, they should not ignore it too. As a parent, it’s your responsibility to help them find the right skin care for acne.
